Grisaille is a style of painting that uses one color and sometimes white for
highlights...also known as tone-on-tone. It can be painted softly or boldly with different
effects. Nancy often paints the softly toned murals over a colorwash faux finish.
To the left below are the two opposite views
of the round entry foyer pictured below. To
the right are details.
Below are examples of metallic paints on flat wall paint. Metallic colors
are surprisingly subdued until the light hits them with a lovely effect.
This is an "old Florida" scene painted softly. Details below.
The murals below were inspired by hand block printed Zuber
wallpapers. There is a soft haze at the horizon that seems to glow.

number of colors, for a subtle effect.
Some of Nancy's earliest
clients surprised her with a
call to say how much they
had enjoyed their mural
which was painted in 1993.
Nancy and a writer from the
Press Journal went to take
pictures and conduct an
interview there. It was great
fun to see them and their
mural again! It had been
inspired by a Chinese scroll
and featured lots of
creatures amongst the
bamboo. You can read the

The powder bath mural above was an Indian River Lagoon
scene. It featured a white egret. At the client's request,
Nancy changed the egret. You can see each version
reflected in the mirror below it. Which do you like best?

Toward the rear of the showroom, as a
backdrop to the working fountain, is a full
color tropical scene with a faux stone wall.
